Smiths Rugby will visit Twickenham for a second time in two years after they made light work of Mansfield RFC in their RFU Community Cup Counties 2 semi final. A 53-12 win at a packed Prince of Wales Stadium was just reward for a dominant display.

Smiths set piece power was evident all the way thorough the fixture, especially at scrum time, as Mansfield possession was ruined and penalties were earned for the home team. A fully dominant half ensued with the visitors barely firing a shot and Smiths raced to a 34-0 half time lead.

39-0 soon after halftime and the match was over as a contest. Mansfield hit back with a score themselves but it was soon 46-5 and then 53-5 to Smiths as they closed out the match. Smiths backs had clicked into gear, finding the right depth in attack to fly onto the ball at pace and provide perfect timing on their passes. Mansfield competed until the end though and were able to find a last try to take the final score to 53-12.

Matt Dean, Jasper Frost, Dan Jarvis, Will Matthews x2, Luke Cador and Mitch Renton with the tries and Marcus Raymond with points from the tee. Man of the match was centre Charles Peters.

Smiths will have a well-earned weekend off next weekend as they prepare for the final at Twickenham on Saturday 23rd May - 1pm KO. Details of travel arrangements will be issued soon so please keep an eye out for updates. We would love to have even more support than last year and make it another big Smiths weekend to remember.
